The guide below takes a deep look into the Saskatchewan Experience (SE) streams of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The guide will go through an overview of the streams, their eligibility requirements, how they works, the documentation needed, their cost and processing times.

Saskatchewan | Experience streams – Overview

The Saskatchewan Experience (SE) streams require that the candidate hold a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer and have work experience in the province to be eligible.

When receiving a nomination under one of the SE streams, candidates can then apply for Permanent Residence to the federal government of Canada.

The Saskatchewan Experience category consists of 5 streams:

  • Skilled Worker With Existing Work Permit,
  • Students,
  • Tech Talent Pathway,
  • Health Talent Pathway, and
  • Agriculture Talent Pathway.

The SE streams require a valid job offer and previous work experience in the province as their main eligibility requirements, and candidates do not need to provide proof of funds. There are other requirements that must be fulfilled regarding the candidate and the job offer.

Saskatchewan | Experience streams – Eligibility

There are 2 main categories of eligibility requirements that we will summarize below (there is no proof of settlement funds requirement for these streams). You can apply to any of the Saskatchewan Experience streams if you satisfy to all the requirements below.

General requirements applicable to all streams

To be eligible to one of the stream, you need to have an offer of permanent, full-time employment in Saskatchewan. You will need a valid SINP Job Approval Letter (your employer needs to apply for one) to show proof of this.

The job offer must offer wages and working conditions that match Canadian standards in that occupation. It must also:

  • Be addressed to you,
  • State the job title, duties and responsibilities, wage, benefits, and company contact information,
  • List the location (i.e. town/city) of your position in Saskatchewan,
  • Be issued on the company’s letterhead, and
  • Be signed by the employer.

Effective May 2, 2024, some business types and occupations may no longer be eligible for steams that require a job offer. Please check the table below with the details of excluded occupations and possible exceptions.

Effective March 27, 2025, Spousal Open Work Permits will no longer be accepted under any Saskatchewan stream, including for SINP Job Approvals.

You must also have at least 6 months of work experience in Saskatchewan to be eligible. More details on each stream in the table below.

Saskatchewan | Experience streams – In-Demand Occupations?

Some streams target specific NOC codes, meaning that if you have experience in those in-demand jobs, you either (i) have more chances to be invited or (ii) that you can be eligible to the stream.

In the case of the Saskatchewan Experience streams, there is no in-demand occupation list. You can find out about the other provinces’ in-demand jobs in our in-demand NOC codes article.

Do I have to stay in the Province?

This is a tricky question and there are multiple situations that can happen. You can learn more about this subject on our dedicated article: Can I move to another province?
