NLPNP is the name of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program. It allows the province to select its own immigration candidates who desire to live and work in Newfoundland and Labrador, and who are qualified, according to the eligibility criteria set by the province, to obtain permanent residency.

The NLPNP is one of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), and targets workers and international graduates.

Choosing Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration

Newfoundland and Labrador, at the extreme east of Canada, is one of the four Atlantic provinces. The province is made of mainland Labrador and the adjacent island of Newfoundland. Financial services, mining, oil production and manufacturing are the most important industries in the province. New opportunities for immigrants have been created since the explosion of the natural resources and energy sectors.

Apart from some federal programs, the province has its own immigration streams. Only one of the NLPNP streams is Express Entry aligned. Indeed, a provincial nomination will give the applicant 600 additional CRS points. This will, in turn, lead the applicant to automatically receive an invitation to apply in the following Express Entry draw

The rest of the streams are non-aligned Express Entry streams, there is no need to be in the pool. There are streams for Skilled Workers and International Graduates with job offers in the province, and for entrepreneurs.
